Matt’s late February trip to Disney World that included Princess weekend for runDisney was “amazing, beautiful weather, mix of family and friends, and a mix of ‘go’ and ‘hold back.’” Listen as he shares about new experiences and seeing familiar attractions through his 4-year-old daughter’s eyes.

Financials:
Hotel $4700 (with 40% cast member friend and family discount)
Flight: $950
Rental Car: $450 (includes car seat rental)
Food: approximate $700

Matt redeemed Disney Visa points to help offset the cost of the hotel, and used gift cards that he accumulated to help with meals and souvenirs. The costs above are totals before discounts. Actual out-of-pocket dollars spent for food and hotel were less because of the discounted gift cards.

Today we are recognizing three Disney-adjacent businesses that we think you might find useful as you plan your Disney vacations.

CurlCap didn't start out as a Disney-related business, but they have ventured into offering some very popular licensed Disney merchandise, including a Mickey cap with ears and a Tiana cap that has her signature embroidered on the side.

When Designer Park Co launched their park bags, we jumped on the pre-order list immediately as the backpacks are perfect for what we need during our trips. They have lots of space, a clasp for Mickey ears, an area for pins/buttons, a mesh net to make it easy to carry wet umbrellas, and tubing to connect to a water bottle inside your bag.

WDW Prep School is proud to partner with Small World Vacations, Diamond Level Authorized Disney Vacations Planners in business since 1996.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year at Walt Disney World, and that means Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is back for the 2022 season.

Shannon and members of the WDW Prep School team recently returned from attending the first 2 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Parties at Walt Disney World! This episode shares their experiences and strategies.

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is a special event that is held at Magic Kingdom in November and December. Although the other 3 parks all have varying levels of Christmas decorations and entertainment, MVMCP is the only specially ticketed event with a full evening of activities, fireworks, characters, and shows.

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party requires a special ticket, which gets you up-to 8 hours of park time, exclusive entertainment, fun fireworks, plus tons of characters. But if you go into the evening without a plan, you may feel like you’re wasting money.

There are plenty of things to keep you busy during the party, and it is impossible to do it all. We hope this episode helps you figure out your plan. We have MUCH more in-depth information on our website and YouTube channel to help you plan your best trip possible. Be sure to check out the links below for more information and planning tips.

Rachel and her husband are Disneyland veterans, but this was their first adult trip to Walt Disney World. They chose to go to Disney World in October to celebrate their first wedding anniversary. Their trip included Mickey’s Not-so-Scary Halloween Party, Universal Studios, Halloween Horror Nights, and lots of park hopping.

Key Takeaways:
  • Bring enough cash for tipping.
  • Rachel was able to add a day, memory maker, and park hoppers when she realized that their package was more expensive than booking individually. She was originally able to book Genie+ when she booked the package, but when she rebooked, it was not available.

When the pandemic caused Walt Disney World to shutdown and furlough cast members, they came together and created a facebook group Ear for Eachother

We had the opportunity to speak with four members of the Facebook group who built businesses during this time. Here are their stories.

Claire created a business out of ideas she wished that Disney was able to offer! She uses her cosmetology license to help her clients Disney bound in their own fairytale.

Kellyann creates door decorations, delivers baskets, and in room celebrations. Prior to the shutdown, Kelly was a coordinator at Ohana and facilitator for Disney University and uses her experience with Disney to infuse magic into all of her creations.

Justin was a Jedi with the Jedi Training Academy prior to the shutdowns. In addition to his experience as a Jedi, Justin played baseball professionally. When the shutdown began, Justin offered baseball lessons in the Ear for Eachother Group and ended up with requests for Jedi lessons instead. Within 48 hours, he was booked up for the next 3 months!

Suhi specializes in charcuterie boxes, edible party favors, and other beautiful food items. Her business was Suhi's way to combine her experience in the food and beverage industry with her passion for food - and especially cheese - to fill a need for Disney guests.

Post Trip: 43:34

Erin and her 12 year old daughter Abby had a wonderful 2-week stay tent camping at Fort Wilderness! Abby is medically complex and improves when she is able to go to Disney, so they make it happen when they can.

Their trip included one night at the Halloween party, Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue, and two dessert parties at Magic Kingdom.

Erin shares her experiences camping, seeing lots of fireworks, utilizing DAS, and following interpreters from park to park. They drove to Disney and had access to their vehicle during their long trip.

At the end of their trip, they spent time at Give Kids the World because Abby was a wish kid in 2015.

There is much more information in the audio, we hope you enjoy Erin's fantastic trip report!

The D23 Expo just wrapped up, and we were so lucky to be there. During the Expo, lots of stuff gets announced at a bunch of panels that span across 3 days. There are panels for movie projects and TV shows, panels all about Marvel and Star Wars, and then there’s our favorite: the Disney Parks & Experiences Panel.

We love this panel because that’s where we learn all about the proposed projects that are planned for all the Disney Parks around the world, plus all the new stuff they have in the pipeline for other experiences like Disney Cruise Line.

Now, to be fair, not everything that gets proposed may actually make it. But, in general, aside from major worldwide pandemics, most things we see eventually make their way into the parks.

Ready to hear what we have to look forward to? Let’s go!

  • PizzeRizzo closes at 5 most days
  • Heather pre-made Droid bags that she ordered on Amazon and put LED lights in so her children’s Droids would glow in Galaxy’s Edge at night
