5 THINGS I'VE LEARNED ABOUT DISNEY WORLD IN 2014

  1. Animal Kingdom is almost always a great park to visit, even on Extra Magic Hour days
  2. Extra Magic Hours can be super useful if you have Park Hopper tickets
  3. Separate credit cards can be used for room charges on WDW resort rooms
  4. Fall may now be a busy time to visit based on how crowds were in fall 2014
  5. Rides that didn't used to require FastPasses now often do

QUICK TIP OF THE DAY

There are many Landry's restaurants nationwide and 4 located at Disney World - 2 Rainforest Cafe locations, T-Rex Cafe and Yak and Yeti. If you sign up for Landry's Select Club, you get extra perks such as a $25 credit during your birthday month, priority seating and 10% off merchandise. It does cost a one-time fee of $25 to join, but you get that amount back in restaurant credit within 24 hours of signing up.

John and his wife decided to take their 3 kids to Disney World and while Becky was excited, John wasn't sure what the fuss was about.

Today you'll hear about the plans they made, how they managed to ride many popular rides 4 times, which character meet their daughter described as "a dream come true" and find out if John has changed from a curmudgeon to a fan.

I also have a quick tip about how to save a few dollars by purchasing park tickets now instead of later.

These are notes from this episode. There's much more info included in the audio so be sure to listen to the episode for a better explanation.

TYLER FAMILY'S BEFORE AND AFTER

Hear how John and Becky surprised their kids with an early December trip to Disney World, complete with a stay in an Art of Animation suite, special events planned for each child and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party.

QUICK TIP OF THE DAY

Disney park tickets often go up in price once or twice per year. To save, you can buy them now to use later and pay the lower rate.

Epcot

  • Frozen ride and meet-and-greet being created and should open in spring 2016
  • Soarin' is likely being expanded to add a new theater to accommodate more people

Hollywood Studios

  • Sorcerer's Hat is being taken down in the first part of 2015
  • Toy Story Mania could be expanded to allow for more people
  • It hasn't been confirmed, but ground could be broken in 2015 on a Star Wars-themed land and/or a Pixar Place section

Animal Kingdom

  • Avatarland construction will continue until it opens in 2017
  • The "Rivers of Light" water show is the most noticeable construction for visitors. This nighttime show is scheduled to open in early 2016.

The Polynesian Resort
The Poly has been under construction for a couple of years but most of it should be completed in 2015. Check TikimanPages.com for updates.

The Beach Club
Beginning in winter 2014, a 20-month refurbishment will take place to update all rooms and common areas.

Downtown Disney/Disney Springs
Construction began in April 2014 and will be finished in 2016. Some parts will open in 2015 (more info below).
