Quick tip of the dayFrom Melyssa: “We were having a hard time with checking into the parks with my son's Magic Band and his finger. No matter how consistent we were using the same finger and his Magic Band, it just wouldn't connect. One of the cast members told me to use my finger instead. So each time, thereafter, that's what we did. It worked out great, especially, when my son was napping in his stroller. I just took off his Magic Band and used my finger to check him in. You just have to make sure you are with your child when you check-in since it's your finger being used and not someone else's in your party." When you are in a hotel room for a few days the dirty clothes start to pile up quickly and make the room feel messy. Pop up hampers don’t really take up any more space in your luggage than a laundry bag but because they stand upright they make the hotel room feel neater and more organized. Also, if you are traveling with young children, it’s nice to bring another pop up hamper to throw all their toys and extra nonsense in quickly to get it out of the way.” Subscribe to get new episodesThere are a few ways to get new episodes of WDW Prep To Go (if you're used to listening on the website, subscribe so you can take new episodes with you on your phone)

I use a packing list (modified from your ultimate packing list) to pick up various items throughout the year and store them in a designated Disney bin. Picking up an extra box of ziploc bags, toothbrushes or hand sanitizer when doing my normal shopping or buying a new misting fan, water bottles or portable chargers when I find them on sale saves me time and money so I’m not scrambling when it’s time to really pack for my trip. After my trip, I return the items we can reuse back to the bin and slowly pick up items here and there to replenish what we need from the list for our next trip.” Subscribe to get new episodesThere are a few ways to get new episodes of WDW Prep To Go (if you're used to listening on the website, subscribe so you can take new episodes with you on your phone)

Quick tip of the dayFrom Michael D... “When we are staying at any of the Crescent Lake Resorts (Yacht, Beach, Boardwalk or Swan & Dolphin), we will hop on any of these resort buses when leaving any of the parks at the end of our day. The terminals are usually next to each other at each park, and the resorts are connected by a path around the lake. This has increased our chances of grabbing a quick bus and has really cut down on getting back to our room at the end of a long day.” Subscribe to get new episodesThere are a few ways to get new episodes of WDW Prep To Go (if you're used to listening on the website, subscribe so you can take new episodes with you on your phone)

Quick tip of the dayQuick tip from Kathy S.: “Make sure you update/renter your credit card on file in your My Disney Experience account. Especially if you haven’t been to the parks in a while to know your card is still active in your account. My brother and I were ready at 6am this morning to make our ADRs. We followed the advice for getting hard-to-get ADRs on WDWPrepSchool.com and thought we had everything ready. I was able to work through my list easily with no problems. The tab idea on the website worked wonderfully. My brother was not having the same luck as he was asked to renter his credit card info on his first reservation. While trying it do that, the page froze and wouldn’t reload. He tried again and it froze again. He had to log in using a different browser then re-enter his credit card into his account. From there he was able to start over with trying to make reservations. By this point, I had made all 4 of the ADRs on my list and 2 of them from his list. His credit card was still in his account from his last trip 2.5 years ago, but clearly Disney felt it needed verified. My last trip was 4 months ago so my card must have still been active in the system. This one little hiccup could mean the difference in getting those high priority ADRs. Planning ahead and working together allowed us to get every ADR we wanted.” Subscribe to get new episodesThere are a few ways to get new episodes of WDW Prep To Go (if you're used to listening on the website, subscribe so you can take new episodes with you on your phone)

Quick tip of the dayQuick tip from Ingrid V.: “Here’s my quick tip for people staying at BLT or the Contemporary. There is not a bus option home from Epcot to the Contemporary. At the end of the night after Illuminations the line for the monorail is nuts, and that will still require a transfer at the TTC (also nuts). To avoid that mess, you can take a bus to the Wilderness Lodge and then wait just a moment and get on one of the busses dropping off from Hollywood studios or Animal Kingdom. They are shared with the Contemporary, which is the next stop. If staying at Bay Lake Tower, the bus stop is much closer than the monorail stop, too!” You might also consider exiting Epcot via the International Gateway, taking a bus from Beach Club to Magic Kingdom, and walking to Bay Lake Tower. They allow us to sip hot coffee at our leisure through the morning (which allows the coffee to stay both and hot easily sealed up and thrown into a backpack to get on and off a ride or bus) and at lunch we rinse them out and use them to keep water cold through the afternoon as a refillable insulated water bottle. Quick tip of the dayFrom Melissa C.: “I recently listened to a few of your podcasts where trip reporters mentioned that they had way too much food to eat on the dining plan, although they still found it a great value for the character meals especially. I’ve heard several people mention that they often bypass the dessert course because they don’t want to feel stuffed walking around the park. This is my tip: instead of bypassing dessert, ask your server for a cup of fruit to go. Early on in our last trip, a server offered this as an option to my 5 year old and we ended up doing it for at least one of us at every meal. It especially works well if you have a stroller with a cooler bag, to keep the fruit from going bad too quickly. This actually worked really well for us, as a family with a toddler who wasn’t getting additional snack credits. But regardless of your family dynamics, a cup of fruit to go is often a wonderful substitute for a table service dessert in the parks.” Subscribe to get new episodesThere are a few ways to get new episodes of WDW Prep To Go (if you're used to listening on the website, subscribe so you can take new episodes with you on your phone)

Quick tip of the dayFrom Ashlea A. "I'm sharing a tip I learned while trying to find missing pictures taken by Photo Pass photographers. We came back from our trip to Disney World at the beginning of May and when I sat down a few days ago to download all our pictures from Memory Maker I realized that not all the photos were there from a few of our character meetings AND that I had misplaced the photo pass card that was handed out at Jedi Training 🤦♀️ I went to the My Disney Experience website and clicked on the link that said "report a missing a photo" and filled out some information and questions they asked. Took less than 5 minutes. They say to be as specific as possible about what you were wearing, what characters you were meeting, etc. Since I had photos on my phone of the specific day I was easily able to answer the questions. I submitted my request and two days later Disney had found ALL the photos that were missing, emailed me back to let me know, and uploaded them to our MDE photos!!!" Quick tip of the dayIn the Winnie the Pooh queue, there is an interactive screen where your kids can wipe away honey. To avoid touching the germ-filled screen, you can tell your kids to hover their hands over the screen instead. The effect still works! Now that I've stayed at all of the Disney World resorts, I wanted to give you my ranking of the Deluxe resorts. Some might surprise you. I also have a quick tip if you're struggling with the My Disney Experience app.

You can do that using your computer or phone at https://www.speakpipe.com/WDWPrepToGo. My Deluxe Resort ranking8.) Boardwalk Inn - nearby resorts much better, have to go outside for all food and drinks, pool is creepy to many 7.) Grand Floridian Resort - good food, 1 monorail stop away from Magic Kingdom, but expensive, lacks Disney theming, inconsistent service 6.) Wilderness Lodge - smaller, dark rooms, frustrating transportation, food has improved 5.) Animal Kingdom Lodge - most gorgeous resort at Disney World, great onsite food, lower cost than most Deluxe resorts, animal views and lots of resort activities, does have service and transportation issues 4.) Yacht Club Resort - fantastic pool, great food, darker theming which may not appeal to all, walk to 2 parks 3.) Polynesian Village Resort - monorail access to 2 parks, fantastic food, studio villa rooms have an extra bathroom 2.) Beach Club Resort - 5 minute walk to Epcot, 15 minus walk to Hollywood Studios, bright and airy and smells good, best onsite pool, character breakfast, easy access to lots of great restaurants 1.) Contemporary Resort (main building) - best transportation or park access (walk to MK, buses at resort and MK bus stop, monorail), great food at resort, all views are good, monorail going through building is a thrill Quick tip of the dayThe My Disney Experience app causes a lot of problems for a lot of people, so consider using your phone's browser as a backup option if you run into issues. Not all of the functionality of the app can be found in the browser, but the ability to do things like make reservations, view plans, and check park hours comes in handy if you can't do it in the app. Subscribe to get new episodesThere are a few ways to get new episodes of WDW Prep To Go (if you're used to listening on the website, subscribe so you can take new episodes with you on your phone)

I recently went to Disney World (surprising!) and got to try lots of new things (Animal Kingdom After Hours, Hollywood Studios After Hours, Rivers of Light Dessert Party) as well as revisit some things I've done before (staying at Port Orleans Riverside, Festival of the Arts, and Early Morning Magic at Magic Kingdom). Listen to the daily updates to hear what did and didn't go well.

I recently went on a Disney cruise and lots of people wanted to hear how it went, so I'm telling you all about it in this episode. I also have a quick tip on making a very creative character autograph book with your kids to use during your trip.

Suggested private transport companies Quick tip of the dayEmailed from Jennifer M.: The short version: my kids drew pictures of the characters and I had those drawings printed into a very adorable book. The detailed version: My daughter (age 5) heard from a friend about Art Hub for Kids on YouTube and she drew a few characters following those guides. My son (age 7) then did a few. Soon, they were making up their own versions of characters and we kept tucking the drawings into a folder. We then somehow decided that all 3 kids (my four year old daughter joined in the fun) would do drawings of as many characters as they could think of. We looked at which ones are often in the park and prioritized those. I then snapped photos of their drawings on my iPhone, and assembled them into a book using Blurb (you could also use Shutterfly or whatever you prefer). We left spaces to add photos and for characters to sign on pages next to drawings of characters we anticipated meeting (if we don’t meet them, we will just add trip pictures that work with it). This has been an incredibly fun project and they are SO proud of it, and working on it has also built so much excitement about the trip. For us, it will also make a really meaningful keepsake and a beautiful, personal coffee table book we can display after our vacation. Hopefully the characters will get a kick out of it, too!"
